The cab driver told the troopers he was driving down Americana when he made his way towards Rio Grande and lost control, knocked out a row of trees, hopped the curb and crashed into a traffic control box across the road. The driver was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with injuries. It was unclear exactly how badly he was hurt.

State troopers don't believe the driver had a passenger inside his van when he crashed. They were trying to figure out when he was robbed. Troopers said he couldn't give them a whole lot of details before he was taken to the hospital.

When the cab driver crashed into that traffic control box it did affect the stop light at the corner of Americana and Rio Grande and the road was shut down for nearly 30 minutes.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and said the Orange County Sheriff's Office will look into exactly when the taxi driver was robbed.
