A man who allegedly robbed a bank in downtown Waukegan used a cab as his getaway car, but didn't get far.

Police arrested him after calling the cabbie on his cell phone and getting their location, according to a second cabdriver who saw the getaway.

The man robbed the Associated Bank at 1 S. Genesee of $7,000 around 10 a.m. Friday, police said.

He tried to get into Dan Schaffer's cab, but Schaffer told him he needed to take the first cab in line, which he did.

After police tracked down the cab in North Chicago, they found the unnamed suspect in a nearby alley. He was to be turned over to the FBI.
