The number of city cabbies who have been robbed recently at gunpoint has increased to six, police said Wednesday.

On Tuesday night, investigators said a 40-year-old driver for Black Taxi was held up while he was traveling near Keen and River streets in the4th Ward.
The cabbie told police that a man flagged him down and asked him for a lift to Sherman Avenue on the Northside.

When the cabbie told the man he was returning downtown but would call another cab to the area, a second man entered the cab through a rear door brandishing a pistol.

The second man pushed the gun through the car's security partition, which the cabbie told police was unlocked and open, and told the driver to hand over his valuables or be killed.

The cabbie gave the thief $42, his cell phone and his Bluetooth wireless device, and fled the scene, said Detective Lt. Anthony Traina, spokesman for the Paterson Police Department.
